Do I have to bring my own machine?
No. Thread Den has a Janome My Excel 18W sewing machine for each student.
How many people will be in my class?
There is a maximum of 6 participants in our workshops.
What happens if I miss one of the weekly workshops?
If you can’t make your first class, it will be necessary to take a private lesson before your second workshop to catch up.
If you miss your second you can still attend your third workshop.
If we can slot you into another class we will, BUT, the Sewing Basics Courses are usually sold out, therefore, it can take months to grab an available spot.
Can I reschedule mid-course?
No. Our Bookings & Cancellations Policy will apply.
Can I do my first workshop from one set of course dates, then two and/or three from a different course date?
No.
When are the Sewing Basics for Beginners workshops held?
Usually, weekday classes start at 6pm. Weekend classes usually start at either 10am or 2pm. Occasionally, we schedule at other times – so double check your session plan.
I have some sewing experience, should I do this course?
If you have frustrating and annoying issues (like a bird’s nest of threads happening) you will get a lot from our Sewing Basics for Beginners Course. If there are terms and tasks described in the class description that you don’t understand, that is also a good indication that you will enjoy our Sewing Basics for Beginners Course.
Can I make something else in the course?
No. This is a planned course with specific session outcomes.
Do I need fabric or supplies?
Yes. Each class description lists what supplies are necessary for that class. For the Sewing Basics Course these supplies are also available for sale at Thread Den.
Do I bring my own equipment or sewing kit?
No. But many students like to bring their own basic sewing kit.
Can I buy the same machine that I learnt on at Thread Den?
YES. You have been sewing on a Janome My Excel 18w. Pop along to Statewide Sewing Centres and let them know that you have been learning at Thread Den. They always have the 18w in stock and have a free gift for Thread Den students!
