The best little tool – Thread Snips!

15 April 2026 by Danielle

Why I’m Obsessed with Thread Snips (And You Should Be Too!)

If you’ve ever taken one of Danielle’s sewing basics week 1 workshops, you’ll already know that she can’t stop talking about thread snips! It’s one of those tools she mention every single time, because honestly, you’ll use them constantly.

“In fact, when I’m creating, I keep them on a ribbon around my neck so they’re always within reach. Whether I’m at the sewing machine, the ironing board, or the overlocker, they’re right there whenever I need them. No hunting around, no slowing down, just snip and carry on!”

Using thread snips near your sewing machine is so much easier than manoeuvring a big pair of fabric shears into tight spaces. Plus, there’s a very good reason to leave your shears well away from the machine, accidentally knocking them against your machine or the table can knock the blades out of alignment. And nobody wants that! When you have the perfect pair of fabric shears you should protect them (at all costs!!).

So, do yourself a favour and grab a pair of thread snips if you haven’t already. The great news is there’s something for every budget, you can grab a pair for just a couple of dollars, or treat yourself to a beautiful pair that you’ll treasure (and probably never want to put down) for years to come. We try to always have them in stock in the little range of tools and habby that we have onsite.🧵✂️
